Barclay demonstrated remarkable success as a junior athlete in both the British and European triathlon circuit, consistently maintaining a position within the top 10. Recognising his potential, British Triathlon extended an offer to join their funding program, aimed at bolstering his development as an athlete. Hailing from Derby, Barclay was fortunate to have the scenic Derbyshire dales as his backdrop, providing a conducive environment for honing his athletic prowess. In 2016, he made the strategic move to Loughborough, where he embarked on a professional triathlete career with a primary focus on making his Olympic aspirations. Currently, Barclay is placing a result on the global stage that will give him high hopes leading into the Paris games next summer.
